Crowning the best martial arts for fitness is almost an impossible task. There are many different types of martial arts that have been practiced for thousands of years, and martial arts has changed millions of lives. We’re going to go through the most effective martial arts that you can practice and try to see which is truly the best. Let’s do it!
1. Martial Arts
We offer a general adult martial arts class that includes a bit of every other martial art we offer – and all of our students LOVE IT.
You’ll learn how to practice self defense properly, have a great time with fun-loving people, and break quite a sweat too.
Our basic routine is to condition at the start of class, run through drills and teach new skills, and wrap up with a cool down. You WILL get sweaty in this class- so if you’re a beginner to martial arts in general and looking for the best martial arts for fitness, our Adult Martial Arts class should do the trick.
2. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian jiu jitsu (BJJ) is a slightly different form of martial arts, practiced around the world.
It involves more groundwork and leveraging your body through physics and motion to fend off an attacker that may be bigger and stronger than you.
Many women’s self defense classes, including our own, will take pages from BJJ. BJJ also takes the cake on ground work- that means a lot of working your core! All who desire shredded abs, attend a BJJ class -might be the best martial arts for fitness for you.
3. Muay Thai and Krav Maga
Muay Thai and Krav Maga will both take your fitness regimen to the next level. Our Muay Thai classes are for you if you’re looking to train competitively and fight on the mat.
You’ll also learn how to attack with your elbows and knees instead of just punching and kicking.
Krav Maga teaches effective and practical self defense in a bootcamp style, as this form of martial arts was originally developed in the Israeli army for the Israeli soldiers.
Both forms promise a killer physique and excellent self defense training – the best martial arts for fitness is dependent on if you want to compete and use elbows and knees, or if you want to focus more on real life self defense applications.
4. The Verdict
Bottom line- you’ll get fit, FAST, with any of our martial arts classes. Our classes are fast-paced, full-body training sessions that ramp up your heart rate and help relieve stress.
There ARE some key points to consider, however, when looking for the best martial arts for fitness. Do you want to be able to protect yourself against someone bigger and stronger than you? Go with BJJ.
